Guitar Center is having a "King Of The Blues" competition across the U.S.A.! I'm looking into it and was wondering if anyone else is also. Who knows...maybe we will meet at the finals.

I've a feeling that the blues "greats" may shudder at the thought of a blues "contest". If blues is about expressing what it inside you, then how can we possibly compare one person against another ?
It merely becomes a technique and showmanship contest. Each to his own !
I'm simply rubbish at blues anyway so what do I know !

I saw a guitar contest at a Hendrix fest in the summer and though it was entertaining I also wondered how Albert or B.B. King for example would fare in such a blues competition? If they were to be compared on technique, dexterity, speed, etc., etc., they probably would score very low.
Though ...on the other hand ...guitarists and the art of one-upmanship? Hmmmm? I think there WAS definitely something of the 'gun-slinger' approach (i.e. "watch this/listen to this and see who's the best") in the attitude and attack of say Hendrix, Beck, Blackmore, Stevie Ray, etc., during certain periods of their careers.
