Toys For Tots!

ChicoBluez's picture

I had two shows this past Saturday. The first was a benefit for Toys For Tots. I usually don't do benefits, but seeing as a close friend was the coordinator I decided to participate. I walked in with my guitar and my TLSE. On stage there was a guitar rig that was spread over about five feet in front of me with every pedal imaginable. I looked at the guitar player and said, "Where's the power amp in?" I pulled out the TLSE and the guy asked, "Are those things any good?" My response was "Let's plug it in." He gave me two stereo in lines and I was playing through a Mesa twenty watt stereo power amp through a stereo 412 Marshall cab. At first I noticed that there was not enough presence and thought I might have to re-program some patches. But the Mesa had a presence control and I cranked it. The tones that came out were nothing less than marvelous. I played an exceptional show, and because the TLSE sounded so sweet, I showboated a little bit. (I only do that when the conditions are just right.)

Well, the needy children got toys, the guy with the giant rig got an ear full of great tones (with minimal square footage), and I walk out with my guitar/TLSE.

I'd like to add to my story.

The Mesa 20/20 stereo power amp and Marshall cab along with the TLSE is a winning combination. I spotted a 20/20 on ebay. With 2 single 12 cabs...I could probably capture KING KONG or GODZILLA as pesonal pets.

well if I was gonna buy anythin on that first page (if there were more) I really like to stal light while having the stereo option so my choice by quick look was the B210 NEO 500 watts TOLEX at bottom of page. but I'd also like to have a pair of Celestion G12T100 and make or buy two small cabs for them.

Rafa, THose Avatar cab seem good quality and reasonably priced. Unavailable, of course, over here !
If you want to tilt them, I'd just pop them on one of those tilting combo stands.
For speakers, I'd go with G12H30's, personally, if I was sticking to cheapish Celestion or Eminence. If you want to treat yourself, have a look at the Scumbacks from southbayampworks.com (I like their H75 and H55 models). They sound absolutely awesome.
I Reckon you'd be looking at maybe running in the next presidential campaign if you started gigging with your TLSE running into a Mesa 20/20 into a pair of Avatar 1x12's loaded with Scumbacks.

Alan,

Yes! The Fenders are going to retire. One for home use the other for worship. That's two rigs in retirement.

Being budget minded, I will start with Eminance speakers.

I think weight wise it's and even trade. On the power end, my cleans will shimmer thru the Mesa power amp.

I am blessed.

the tonelab is the best

the tonelab is the best thing i have ever bought for my rig. it is by far the best investment i have made in my life period. if you by a huge pedal board and many pedals that can get wayyy to expensive and heavy and its just huge. the tonelab is also easier to use. i love it
