Here's what I used to play out of!

ChicoBluez's picture

Pictured is myself playing a Jackson/Charvel model LS1 thru a custom pedalboard (midi switcher, tube screamer, Bixonic Expandora, Vox wah, and Voodoo Lab's vibe pedal.

Mesa Boogie Mk2B combo with extension cab, looped out to a Korg digital tuner, Rocktron Hush 2C, and Rocktron's Intellifex. Most of these pieces I now use with the TLSE.

My point is simple, I have owned many killer rigs. The TLSE stands up to all of them. YES! applause

Also I included a pic of my autograph sandwiched between B.B. King's and Jerry Seinfeld. What a show off!!

Hey Chico, This is very good

Hey Chico,

This is very good news. In the back of your mind you always think..."you know, I bet a sweet tube amp or two and some rack effects would sound better than this all in one box"....and I suppose in some cases it might.
It's all in the tweak, right?? cheesey grin

Peace!

Chico; What where the steps

Chico;
What where the steps that led you to choose the TLSE?
I, like you, have had tons of gear, amps, etc over the years.
I agree, there is not a Sunday that goes by, where someone comes up at looks at my set-up. I am constantly discovering new things about the TLSE!

hotraman, I'am totally tone

hotraman,

I'am totally tone driven. applause Saying that, I do have a head for the tech side. I've posted before about the GT-8. Reading the fact that you can blend 2 different tones really got me juiced. I went to the local Guitar Center and plugged in. Very unhappy with the tone. sad I know the GT-8 has it's place. For me, the tone did not justify the learning curve or the effort to search for tone that may not be there. beat up

I've been fortunate to have owned many tube and non-tube amps over the 37 wonderful years of playing guitar. smile I have played through just about every hot tube amp made today. The TLSE is SWEET. cheesey grin It is not the "end all/be all". It is right now (and for the money) the best sounding tube amp modeler sold today. applause

On the tech side, it may be lacking for some. Effects may be not as versatile or as good (but useful) as other units. Interface options not as complete (still workable). It's all about the tone. From my point of view, it's scary what this unit can do. blushing

At my last show, I stood in front of the mains and wailed away with a huge grin. The tone coming out was that good. tongue

Can't wait to play this Saturday. wink

Chico; I am "tone driven",

Chico;
I am "tone driven", too.
Thanks for sharing the process. I have been playing guitar since the 1970's and have seen allot of things come and go. My current challenge is to work with getting the fullest sounds of out my T5. Vsited Rivera.com and saw a video with Paul Jr. and Brian from Taylor with the T5, going thru a Sedona Doyle Dukes 55. I don't need the distortion feature ( I like the TLSE) but I want to find an amp that I can channel switch. I would like to be able to turn off the tweater, when I play electic. Any suggestions? Thanks

None that I can think of. I

None that I can think of.

I beleive amp makers are in the process of coming up with such a beast.

My guess is we're wishing for a powered amp sim with speaker cab and tweeter??

Your right, Chico. That's my

Your right, Chico.
That's my wish... to be able to turn off the tweeter with a foot switch, but at a resonable cost. Rivera's Sedona is way too much buck. I playe a Genz Benz Shen Pro a few weeks ago, that had a tweeter ajustment setting in the back of the amp. Plus, its a hybrid of tube/transitter preamp. Its goes for about $999.00.
I would need to sell off a few things, but I may try to demo it on a Sunday.

No way would I spend that

No way would I spend that much money unless it was there to waste. A good tube power amp, 15 band eq and 12" open backed cabinet (or 2 if you want stereo)is all you really need. I see diminishing returns after that. Go for the KISS method. There isn't even another pedal or box I want hooked in with the TLSE. Maybe I'm just getting old but I don't want to lug around anything more than I have to.

Vincentj46, Can't say I

Vincentj46,

Can't say I blame you.

I haul my rig and a full PA/lights and sometimes wish for a easier way. I have a 5x8 trailer that doubles as a hauler for my Harley. I actually turn down gigs that do not have an elevator or ground level access.

Where did all that "get up/rock and roll" energy go to?

I still go to my happy place

I still go to my happy place when I play. I close my eyes and channel the 37+ years of playing.

I can smile, if only for a while.

I like the yellow mic cord the best. Is that Jerry Seinfeld's signature?

I can empathize with the

I can empathize with the waning of the rock and roll energy, Chico. My main instrument, as the picture shows, is the drums. I've pared the kit down from 14 drums to 6 'cause I'm just plain tired of luggin' em around and the set up time was sometimes longer than the gig!!! mark (hp)
