I Pray the Government don't shut this site down now.
I Pray the Government does something about the global warming.
I Pray the Government doesn't use the rest of the oil supply.
I Pray the Government doesn't create more poverty and crime.
I Pray the Government finds a new planet for us to live before this one is destroyed.

The only thing wrong with praying and waiting for the desired answer is that nothing is being done with the FREE WILL to make choices that we are allowed to make...which is stated in the bible. If we only sit here and pray, thus asking God to give us what we want, then your FREE WILL is being neglected which is why God gives that to us. Essentially that would put us in the category of selfish little children saying "I WANT...GIMME GIMME GIMME". FREE WILL is given so we can make choices to either do something or nothing. If there was no FREE WILL then we would all be puppets on a string and there would be no need for heaven or hell. So as opposed to sitting here and praying for God to grant me things that I would like to have or want I will make the active choice to work towards something and be held accountable for my actions to God as opposed to waiting for him to levetate my butt off the couch to do something and then I get the distinct luxury of being held accountable for making choices.
I think the member of Pink Floyd would have prayed for the legalization of drugs and that government to be restructured. Then I think they'd load another bong and write another song. :-)
We'll certainly be held accountable for our actions. The idea of prayer is prefaced by the humble admission that we ourselves are not God, and have limted power, limited knowledge, limited understanding, in fact, limited everything, being in sharp contrast however to God, who is not limited by anything at all. His love for us is unlimited as well, and He wants very much to do good things for us. Trouble is, most of the time we don't have a clue what is really good for us, unless we put love into the equation. Then, and only then, can you come up with an answer that comes close. Invariably, there are things that God can do, and I can't. This is why we pray, and then go about using the tools He has given us to help ourselves as He helps us.
Amen, eyema believer. We are in a spiritual war. We have two pro-active weapons as far as I can see. Prayer (and fasting), in which we bring our petitions to God, and the word of God, were we learn how we are to exercise our responcibilities as christians. How great is it that this site makes room for the spiritual needs of its members!
wowser... old link syndrome, haven't seen Shawn on here for quite some time... and Eric... well I think he quit this site because of his beliefs. www.selfdistruction.com
