Built like a tank?

hotraman's picture

This post is for visitors who are thinking about buying a Tonelab SE, but are put off by the metal casing. Or that its too large. I learned last week that the Tonelab is built like a rock. I accidently backed into mine at my church office, where it dropped face down, about two feet. I freaked, thinking the tube was done. But to my amazement, the Tonelab SE fired up, none of my chicken knobs were cracked, and nothing inside was lost. Another testimony, that in the age of plastics, some things are better built with metal!!

That's good to hear. I haven't personally put my TLSE through such a "trial of fire" but its good to know that it might survive if i did. HF

I came close about a month

I came close about a month ago, I was opening my trunk to bring my stuff in and the TLSE slid right out and luckily I caught it between the bumper and my knee before it hit the ground. you never know whats gonna happen, I use a soft guitar gigbag to carry it in at the moment since then.

Has anyone checked out the

Has anyone checked out the case being sold on Ebay for the TLSE. It looks outstanding. Only thing though is, I don't know if it will get in the way when playing live, or does one have to get it out of the case. Here is the link to check it out.

musikman, That case looks

musikman, That case looks seriously nice. Just a"little" bit better than the "padded" bag the TLSE comes with.

I thought about the case as well.
If I was playing at clubs or outdoors where dust would be an issue, I would buy one. My TLSE has a sweet life.. it sits on carpet inside our worship center.
Hamfist, where do you play over in the UK?

Musikman: I own one of those

Musikman:

I own one of those cases. They are solid and well-built. I actually never take me TLSE out of the bottom-half of it between hauling it to/from church. Considering the only other hard case alternative I've seen on the net (and the nearest price I saw on the net was $215), this case was a great bargain. My only other option was to build my own case, but given my very busy life, this case was a welcome bargain.

Tarcaseco makes a very good case for the TLSE. My only complaint was that their logo wasn't on it to help tell who the hell made it. (And no, I'm not involved with Tarcase in any way...straight up.)

Hope that helps,

Steve (hotraman), Your TLSE

Steve (hotraman), Your TLSE certainly seems to enjoy a life of luxury. My TLSE gets lugged about everywhere in the padded case it comes with and so far so good.
I play around Romsey, which is a town near Southampton, in the UK. the regular church band I play in is for New Life Curch, Romsey. How about you ? Alan

got mine used.. they said

got mine used.. they said they couldnt find the padded case for it.. so I bought this stupid keyboard case thinking I'll modify it, but decided its to big so I use a 20 dollar tweed guitar padded gig bag to transport. That case is great.. but high in price.. maybe someone could post deminsions so we might build it ourselves.

My tube went out on night while playing a culb. I managed through the night standing on top of it because I was pissed. Got it home and replaces the tube and that's all that was wrong with it THANK GOD!!! Tim Brackeen

Hey Alan; Glad to hear about

Hey Alan; Glad to hear about another Tonelabber across the Atlantic. I lead worship at a church in Vancouver, WA,. just outside of Portland Oregon here in the Pacific Northwest. Left the concrete jungles of So. Calif seven years ago. I love all of the worship that comes from the UK, Matt Redman, Stuart Townend and Delirous? as well. We play a wide variety of music, from blues, gospel, rock and folk. The TLSE really allows me to cover a wide variety of music. I really appreciate the Worship Music revival that is happening over in the UK. Keep playing!
