recording tonelab etc

mrmoose's picture

hi all i just joined this site ..i have had the tonelab for sometime ..mainly i use it live ..i found using it with atomic amps the perfect solution for live use ..but i have found that recordings always sound a little fizzy..in the manual it tells me to go direct but i have found it slightly illiminates the buzz when i go amp..is rhere anyway of recreating the thump of a mic`d amp?
any thoughts suggestions on how people use this unit for recording would be great ..btw if your interested im happy to tlk about the atomic amps ..believe me they absolutely blew me away when i got them smile

Moose, Copy and paste this

Moose,

Copy and paste this text - Behringer EX2200 Dualfex Pro - into the Musician's Friend power search on the left side of the page. They are inexpensive and work great to bring out the dymnamics and the thump that you are looking for. Put the EX2200 between your tonelab and recording interface. As far as the fizz/buzzy, I have not had that problem personally (with or without the EX2200) and I am going direct to a Tascam FW-1082 using the 'Line' output setting on the Tonelab (push 'Global' scroll to 'LN'). Are you sure you do not have a ground loop problem?

Regards,

LD

well thanks LD..im gonna

well thanks LD..im gonna order one of those today..as far as the fizzy sound ..i have found since that setting the tonelab to amp instead of line works better for me as i find the other way has far to much top etc ..and seems to leave a little bit of a fuzzy edge to the sound ..i guess all sound is relative to the listener ..anyways the sound i get now is lovely and smooth ..but i could still do with a little something .hopefully the EX2200 will do the trick..i have to say im using the tonelab desktop version not the SE..which after owning both is exactly the same with less features..
