Acoustic simulator

gregor's picture

Dear Tonelab LE users.

I am new to this machine, and new to this forum.
Just upacked the TLLE a few days ago. As I live in Mexico, I got it via eBay USA, after reading tons of reviews and posts, including on tonelab.net.
Main use: as sound generator between my workhorese guitar (a US Fender Stratocaster) and a Marshall Jubilee tube amp.

I must say that the potential seems great, put first hand experience playing around with the LE was mixed.
In particular, I have been unable to get an "acoustic sim" sound that is anywhere close to the demo videos and sound samples available on the net.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem and found a solution?

In real life, I would use that sound for one song I do in my current band "Give a little bit" (here you can see the song played live, but there I use a 15-year old SONY GR-5 sound processor that has served its purpose, has no acoustic sim setting, and which I plan to replace with the TLLE once I figured out to make good use of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7uNitgReE4 )

thanks for any advice or posting of patches....

The demo's that you are

The demo's that you are hearing are probably recorded direct from the TLLE. Since you are running into an amp, I doubt that you'll be able to get a really good acoustic simulation. Have you thought about putting in a piezo bridge on your strat and running that direct to the PA? I have a Godin xtSA and use this option when I play live. I run both channels into a balance/volume pedal and can instantly switch bewteen the two by pressing down or pulling back on the pedal. Just a thought.

thanks for the advice. I

thanks for the advice.
I want to keep all as low-tech as possible.
and hope to use the TLLE to have less cables/pedals/stompboxes etc..
and for the two or three songs for I would have a closer acoustic sound, it is probably not worth it.
I managed OK by adding some chorus/flange to the elecric guitar or using a built-in patch from the SONY machine that I have used so far and can probably get a similar tone out of the TLLE, just not one that is halfways "acoustic" sounding.
The three songs, btw, are "give a little bit" "looking back" and "if I could - change the world" (there are video clips of all of them with band on youtube/google)
regards
