Mon, 2008/11/03 - 2:18am — 1overthe8Hi,
Gilmour uses a "HEIL talk box" for "keep talking". Connected between amp and speaker, the talk box uses a compression driver to send audio signal through a tube placed into your mouth. By varying the resonating cavity the signal obtains a speech-like modulation. Unfortunately you can't get a similar sound from TLs "Talk Mod".
Cheers.

Fri, 2008/11/14 - 12:14pm — fingersHi, I know this isn't the patch you want, but as it is under the heading of Pink Floyd, thought I would post it.
My son asked me to play a clip of Comfortably numb, and although it's not all as the original, it gives an idea of the sound.
It was played into a small behringer desk, using a Digitech studio quad for the reverb and delay.
If you want me to upload the patch let me know.

trying to achieve Gilmore's
Sun, 2008/11/16 - 10:07am — mself61trying to achieve Gilmore's sound may be tough.
you can visit this site to find out more on what he uses (and doesn't use)
http://www.gilmourish.com/
but a basic chain of effects he uses is as follows
Big Muff should be placed first
volume booster or a mild overdrive placed after the Big Muff
wah wah for some of the early stuff
A compressor is a great tool to beef up your cleans and to tighten distortions. (Tonelabs compressor may not be "good enough")
chorus is perhaps more versatile than a flanger
A nice vintage sounding phaser will cover the Uni-Vibe sounds
A delay is a must as it’s essential to 99% of David’s tones
the most important thing is to keep things simple !
David’s Hiwatt settings
- David is rarely seen using the exact same settings one night to another but it appears to be something like this:
Linked inputs as described above, bass 50%, treble 50-60%, mids 40% and presence around 60%. The normal channel volume should be slightly higher than the bright/brilliance volume.
I'd like to add that if you are seeking great tone the TL is a great tool but do listen too and study the set-ups of the great "tone masters"
