Tonelab LE Trim

coachz's picture

What is the Trim for that's in the Line2 settings in the Amp/Line output section. It appears to be a fader for the input level of the guitar but I don't see an indicator to show clipping and why would they put it in the Output section. I could see if there was a clip light you might trim it down or up for a weak signal but it's really not explained in the manual. Thanks for any clues.

On the ln2 setting you could actually boost the volume level by adjust the bass, mid or treble, I think the trim is to compensate for that. This is just a guess.

I think you're right - it's

I think you're right - it's an input fader for the input of the guitar. If you have weak pickups, you can boost the signal, etc. I've tried it, that's what it does.

Actually, I thought with the ln2, the eq was after every other part of the TL, last in the chain. I figure, since you can adjust the treble, midrange and bass up or down, and that would correlate to a volume change also, the trim would allow you to compensate. If Im confused, please straighten me out.

Sorry, I looked at this

Sorry, I looked at this again and I think your right. The book says that it "Adjusts the input level". I assume it's the input level of the EQ like your saying.

that makes more sense,

that makes more sense, especially considering that it's on the LN2 and not global or some input area. If it was truly an input trim i would expect a clip light somewhere too. Still not sure but that makes more sense I think.

I'm glad I own an SE

I'm glad I own an SE now...the LE seems to have some complicating (unnecessary) features for me.
