New sounds :D

So, today I was messing around with the "amp" mode into the pre-amp of my Crate 120wattsomething or other 2x12 open back combo. With a little alteration of each patch, I've been able to achieve a much crisper sound, much more low end that the TL lacks, an EQ that's quickly controllable for the room I'm playing in, and a sweeter, less "hissy" distortion. I'm headed to a studio in the next couple weeks, so I'll get some sound clips.

I know most people don't

I know most people don't have the best of luck running through the pre-amp of a normal guitar amp, but this Crate seems to be very transparent, and the coloring it does do, it does it for the best.

if it's straight amps "ONLY"

if it's straight amps "ONLY" from the TLSE you can download all amps and cabs from my site selfdistruction tonelab page, they have all been leveled to my best ability at the time I did it. just turn the cab off if you don't want it.

Just an update from myself

Just an update from myself on a similar note really.

Used the SE today with some patches I had written for a gig using the marshall 80s amptones wow!!!

I have now realised how much the vr gain can affect the sound (in a good way of course), it can give you that singing power valve distortion which many guitarists crave.

Have had my se about 12 months or so now, and I finally feel I am getting the tones I need from it, so the message is perservere and you will get there in the end.

Can't remember where it was mentioned in this forum, but very important point is don't max out the controls, usually less is more.

Going back to the point of what to plug the SE (or LE) into, I have tried going into the front end of good quality amps, and IMHO it is not the best way to use it.

Well done if you have a sound that you're happy with, and lets face it that is the important thing, but after months of playing around, a Tech 21 power cube works for me (atomic amps seem to be great aswell)

Hope you can gather from this that i am very happy with the SE !!

Most of the people I've seen

Most of the people I've seen on this forums that run their amps right into a guitar amp, do it on valve amps. This is a SS.

Guilty Though if I'd still

Guilty smile Though if I'd still owned it I would be running the TLSE into an ART Carbon Fiber Attack Module. It's a great amp on it's own, but it did not play well with the Line 6 gear I previously owned. Shoulda sold that part first. Ah well...

Actually, I bought this little Kustom amp for my son (15 watts tops, 6 inch speaker with volume, tone and a defeatable gain control). With the tone all the way down and the TLSE on "line" it's a killer practice amp. For live solid state, I prefer a Mackie SRM-450.
