Loving my ToneLab SE

I haven't been this happy with my rig since I first bought my Cyber Deluxe over 6 years ago or owning the Vetta 3 years ago.

With the Cyber deluxe, it COULD get me those "in between" tones that even my Mesa TriAxis had a hard time delivering, let alone the CyberTwin. It was my main stay for years, but it lacked some versatility that I needed later on.

The Vetta was the bomb. It honestly had too much, but in the end size still mattered and I wasn't about to buy an SUV just for an amp.

So now I have been playing the SE since Frankensteining the AC adapter with parts from an old Digitech one and then cleaning the TLSE inside & out completely. I even still use the "original" EH tube/valve.

Last night, I was able to dial in the house to get an almost exact match on my tone through the Traynor. Since I run direct to the power amp stage, I set the SE to Line (it is way muffled on the amp setting). THe great thing is the XLR direct out on the Traynor still works when going this route.

I found a guy on YouTube who had a great patch for a Van Halen "Top of the World" sound, now I am trying to find one for "Best of Both Worlds". The only way I can describe it is the tone is both dirty and clean at the same time. I'm getting there...

Yesterday I played in 2 services for a total of about 3 hours. With my Jeff Beck strat (loaded with the "Hot" Ceramic Noiseless pickups) I get 95% of what I want from every pickup. And when I'm looking for that 5%, it's only a matter of playing with the tone controls and the volume on the guitar. Sweet.
