Tweaking a couple of Sounds

DronJes's picture

Hi, my apologies if this has been posted in the wrong forum.. It is my first post.

I have just bought a ToneLab SE. To be quite honest it is way overkill for what I am looking for however, the sales rep told me that I could emulate any sopund I care to with it..
I am only looking for two really..

The Angus Young Sound from Back in Black (A personal Favourite) & the Guitar sound from the Band 'A Perfect Circle'
Is there any way of emulating these two sounds without running patches..
If so, can anyone let me know what the settings would be..
?
I run a 1970 Stock Strat (My Dad left it to me), and a Gibson SG Standard through a Bugera Valve Amp (I know, some of you may be shocked, but I like the drive and depth you pull out of it.)

Any help offered would be great..

The desktop Tonelab has a preset called "Angus"...

I uploaded a patch which contains both the TLSE and the TL desktop presets, but I just recognized that this patch became a victim of the "lost files desaster" here...

I will post it again, just look.

If you want to dial the "Angus" patch in manually, get the Tonelab desktop manual - the settings are in there as well.

PS: Use your SG for the AC/DC sound ;-)

Agree with ya Kaal, but I

Agree with ya Kaal, but I will add that the SE doesn't go well with all amps, yours may work, but then you might not get good sound with it. you might be better off w/o the SE using some amps, you may just bypass the amp/cab sim and use effects only, or use am/cab and no effects.
also some guitars are just different so you may be tweaking a while to "Get that tone"

If the Bugera has a power

If the Bugera has a power amp in, you have just found your best way to run the TLSE.
Do experiment with the Line/Amp switch. I usually leave mine to line and roll back the treble on my practice amp. The AMP switch makes it all too dull IMO.
Also, using the AMP mode and disabling the CAB models in another good thing to try.

ENJOY!

I skipped dinner. Now I am hungry.
Shouldn't eat this late though...gotta go find some fruit.

BTW-
Here at tonelab.com there is no such thing as a wrong forum. There are just some places on the site where it will take longer to get the answer wink

I'm grateful that Geezer Butler didn't leave Sabbath to be replaced by Jaco...I don't know I would want to hear Ozzy hit those notes.
