I have the M-audio Uno (USB-MIDI) and it works great for both Mac and PC. I got it at GC for $40 or so. Also, check out the tutorials on the side of the webpage.
Hi there, and thanks for the help. i bought the m-audio midisport uno today. and found out that i needed abit more help. i put the output cable into the output entrance and so on with the input. But on the blue box it doesnt show that ive done so. its only the ''usb'' light thats on. Do i need to do something with my tonelab? push any buttons or so?
it coud be a few things...
first turn on your tonlab then start the editor.
if it still isnt working check the "MIDI" tab in the editor
then select the uno for transmit and receive if necessary.
If you have already done that and it still does not work, "MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE RIGHT EDITOR VERSION"
Sorry to yell but many have downloaded the desktop version and not the SE version and visa versa.
If it still is not working after all of this try this one more time...
Reboot your PC, turn on the SE, then start the editor, if it still don't read check the MIDI settings once more,
If it still don't work throw a raging fit and post about what is happening.
Kidding about the raging fit of course !
I've now tried the things you said. but still aint working. It is still only the ''USB'' lights thats on. i also get the message ''MIDI communication error occurred. Check the cables and MIDI interface.
out on the midi interface goes to the in on the tonelab and in on the Midi interface to to out on the tonelab. Midi also has channels so make sure both are on the same channel or if your midi interface can be set to accept commands from all channels do that. If that still doesn't work junk the computer and buy a mac! Kidding, in all seriousness if it's hooked up right than there is probably something wrong with your windows or a hardware conflict.
Agree that there may be a conflict of some sort, also it could be you may need to update drivers for the uno, another way to test if it might be your Tonelab is to get another one, I strongly suggest before you try anything else though you should re-download the editor and re-install it if you have not done that yet.
What Windows version ?
What Tonelab Version ?
What Uno Driver Version ?
once again, turn on things in the proper order.
PC, TL, Editor - give 5 or 10 seconds in between each device.
I just solved the exact same problem. Hit the "Global" key on the face of the SE and scroll over to MIDI channels. Select 16 (The uno is a 16 channel interface) then hit "write." The uno should then begin to transmit. If it hasn't, unplug the uno and reboot your computer. Once booted, plug in the uno. If the pop-up at the bottom of the screed doesn't read new device and recognise the UNO by name, there is a driver error and you neew to download the latest driver from M audio.
Good luck
