problems with DAW

nomad100's picture

my tonelab le sounds lifeless threw my Firepod, has anyone else had a problem with there unit threw recording interfaces? The main reason i bought the unit was for silent practice since it doesn't have a headphone input i have to play music threw my firepod and mix the 2 threw headphones. The unit sound okay just threw headphones, and threw an amp.

Nomad, I have no magic to

Nomad,

I have no magic to offer up here. I have the TLSE and have never been impressed with it's sound through my Tascam FW1082 into Sonar. For live sounds it is the shizzle. I have only been able to get thick juicy sounds by micing my cabs. I have come close to decent tones but only with major tweaking away form whatever patches I use for live sound and messing with the direct v amp mode (not sure if LE has that). I have been thinking alot about this lately myself because I want to do more direct to DAW. I am kicking myself for getting rid of my Digitech GNX III which was crap for live sound but I could always tweak out some really nice tones straight to the board. Same with the Zoom 9.2tt. Good live sound but sounds like bees in coffee can through the board.

I know several off the guys have gone straight to DAW and have obtained good results. Maybe someone can enlighten us.

Well I don't really have

Well I don't really have much to offer either but I seemed to get good tones through my SE and G9, of couse I had to do some tweaking and I have an echo Mia card doing the recording through a mixer with EQ's at 12, but then again I haven't done a hole lot of anything recording wise to harp about and not much room and time to do some serious stuff.

I think I'm just going to

I think I'm just going to take the Tonelab LE back. I think a better use of my money would be to buy an ISO cab that way i can just use my amp and always love the tone. I tried the using the tonelab as just a speaker sim for my mesa and it failed miserably the speaker sim sound flangy IMO. Of course everything was off except the speaker sim. I've recorded my amp with a mic before and never had any audio trouble. My only guess is maybe there is a conflict between the D/A in the tonelab and the A/D in my firepod.
