Based on a recent post, thought it was time to share some of my favorite patches to use with specific worship artists/songs.
My signal chain is Guild Bluesbird (Seymour Duncan HB pups) > TLSE > BBE Sonic Stomp > Tech21 Power Engine 60 (stage monitor as needed) > XLR out to FOH PA/board. Using Aviom in ear monitors (Shure E-5s).
We play a lot of Chris Tomlin, Lincoln Brewster, David Crowder, Hillsong, Matt Redman, Tim Hughes music. Here’s a description for some of the patches in the attached TLP file:
1-1 TUBE OD: main patch on many songs for single note clean or chord chimey (volume down on Guild) to crunchy power chords (Hillsong Salvation is Here) and some lead work. A staple for much Chris Tomlin and Lincoln Brewster stuff.
1-2 CLEANEDG: Compressor, Chorus, and Delay on AC30 used for Chris Tomlin Forever Live @ Austin and Not To Us, plus some David Crowder songs like O Praise Him.
1-3 UCLA: All purpose rhythm patch (clean)
1-4 MTY2SAVE: Hillsong Mighty to Save with fixed/open wah sound for killer triad intro.
2-2 STREETS: Dotted 1/8 delay used on Steve Fee songs like Glorious One and Chris Tomlin’s O Worship the King.
2-3: TUBEWAH: Classic wah muted palm stuff on Hillsong’s Mighty to Save
2-4: TREM OD: Used on Desperation Band’s Rescue and other songs to add background color (e.g. arpeggios)
3-2: MOD-TONE: Messing around with this one for single note volume swells on Hillsong’s The Stand
3-3: ECHOSLID: you guessed it, slide work when you need a long tail on the echo/verb, use it on Tim Hughes’ Happy Day
4-3: ROBBIE: Works great on Robbie Seay’s music, esp the intro to song Rise (check his stuff out!)
5-2: STVFEE: Steve Fee’s All Because of Jesus, not quite the same as the recording but does a good job of simulating the delay shuffle effect!
24-3: DELAYSOL: Used on Lincoln Brewster’s All the Earth Will Sing Your Praises, and solo for Everlasting God.
I hope you can use some of these. Giv’em a try and tweek away!
P.S. Still waiting for Chico to post his patches!!!
John

Mon, 2008/02/18 - 7:27pm — tbyrdI put the first two patches on my LE. Very nice. I especially like patch 1-2 (AC30) since the AC series is kinda my favorite on the TL. Thanks for posting those. Very good simulation for HillSongs stuff too.
