I sent Monte a message about this band because they are so "fun" (in a good sense) and then I thought that they probably deserved a general post. I also wasn't sure if Brock has got our respective in-boxes working again or not!
Their name is "Black Mountain" and I'm recommending their recent release "In The Future" - which must be an ironic title because its prog rock with Black Sabbath riffs, Deep Purple Hammond, psychedelic fuzz bass guitar, folk interludes and 18 minute songs! Its right up Monte's alley I reckon.
My first reaction on hearing the first song on the album was to laugh out loud beacuse it was soooooo good! The rest of the album had me grinning ear to ear. The reason??? - its such a 'perfect' take on the genre. Indeed its is so good it should immediately be put on the prog-metal syllabus marked "... this is how to do it ...".
For more information go to http://www.blackmountainarmy.com/ , you can also see a rough and ready audience video clip here - http://www.scjag.com/mp3/jag/bmkokovid.htm and if you get the chance check the album out.

Mon, 2008/02/11 - 7:51am — mself61Well I guess the inbox is not working yet, but the band is an interesting set XD. although it does have some old sabbath feel to it it reminds me of a few other bands from that era like Humble Pie and Jefferson Airplane, its not really my "style" per say that I'd go and buy but would be fun to listen to their stuff.
