New Amp

humblepie's picture

After hearing all the talk I got a tube amp. I have had the Peavey Valveking for 2 weeks now and am finally getting the tones tweaked right. There is a definite warmth from a tube amp not present in the solid state amps... Thanks for the tips guys!!! mark (hp)

it would be interesting to

it would be interesting to see if you could emulate it with the TL through a PA, or PA with guitar cabs side by side.

Do you straight from Tonelab

Do you straight from Tonelab to amp's guitar input? Or through the effects loop?

I must admit Tube Amp makes

I must admit Tube Amp makes all the difference. I own a 50 watt Crate VFX5112 with a 12" Tone Tubby amp, it has warm sound and with the Tonelab LE they complement each other.

I recommend it to anyone looking for an amp.

Cheers,

With this particular amp I

With this particular amp I go through the guitar input. I have "big blue" set on amp and adjust the bass, mid & treble to ten o'clock, 12 o'clock and one o'clock on the amp respectively. With this amp you can adjust the power, either full power using all 6 tubes involved or you can dial it back to half power (more distortion). I tend to use it at about 70% power. Big blue's input is only at 50% (6 o'clock). That is what I have fund works best, the line setting with this amp is too thin and fizzy. The effects loop setting isn't as warm as the guitar input. Which is just the opposite on my Marshalls (both solid state). mark (hp)

Does that not put distortion

Does that not put distortion into the clean patches of the TL Mark ?
or is it to the power level where there is no distortion from the amp its self ?

Monte, running it at that

Monte, running it at that power setting still gives pristine clean tones. I can't believe how much better or dare I say ballsier the dirty patches sound. They fairly rumble, even at lower volume. No break up or fizz at higher volumes either. mark (hp)

Mark, Are you using any amps

Mark,

Are you using any amps from the TL? or you just using effects into your amp? I have a Crate VFX5112 Tube Amp which has such a nice tone but I sometimes when I mix an amp from the TL and my amp I get a lot of Fizz. Maybe you can shed some light on what is working for you and your Tube AMp?

Thanks in adavance

I use the amp and cab

I use the amp and cab settings on "big blue" thru the amp. I have tweaked some of the EQ settings from where I had for line output. But using the amp settings as well as effects and such create a greater plethora of tones... like Chico would say, the search never ends!!! mark (hp)
