How to Upload Your Patches

Admin's picture

Time to Upload

So you've saved your favorite patch, and you're ready to share it with the world. Well, you've come to the right place.

Go to ToneLab.net

Go to the TLPE in your favorite web browser. I use Firefox, and you should too, if you know what's good for you (Opera is ok too), but that's another topic for another day.

Once you're there, log in.

Create Content

On the left hand menu, choose the link that says "create content."

Then in the center "Content" column, select "forum topic ."

Select the appropriate forum for your patch. Since this is a clean, bluesy sound, I'm putting it in the "clean sounds">"blues" forum.

Give you're patch a descriptive title, and a detailed description. Include any other effects you like to use it with, any special settings on your guitar or amp that make it sound extra sweet, etc.

Attach Your Files

Once you have your title and description set, scroll down to the "Attachments" area. Give your first file (usually your TLP file) a good title.

Now click "Browse." Navigate to the folder where you stored your file, and select it. Then click "Open."

Now, click "Add" just below the "File:" box.

You can repeat this process to attach as many files as you want. Though it's not necessary, it's a good idea to upload mp3 demos of the patch. The more the merrier (within reason).

Fill in the extras and submit

Now, if you want, you can write a short meta description, and keywords for your page. These will be used by search engines to better index the page. This is entirely optional. Search engines will pick us up even if we don't do this.

Once you've filled in everything you want, click "Submit." It is also a good idea to preview your post before you submit it. Also, go to google.com and get the google toolbar. You can use it's features to spell check your work before you send it in, saving you a lot of embarrassment.

Stand back and admire a job well done. wink

Now, before you can participate, there will be a timed 250 question multiple choice/short essay test. You must pass with at least an 80% to be able to upload or download patches... Just kidding cheesey grin Stupid joke... I know...

Now, you know everything you need to know about patch sharing. Go out into the world and teach others. Bring them here and tell them the good news: Finally, ToneLabbers have a community of their own, and everybody is welcome.

If you need to take the course again, don't feel bad (just don't tell anybody). You can start over at "How to set up your ToneLab SE SoundEditor (PC)."
