Hey,
I'm looking for a good metal sound like the guitar solo in Trivium's "Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr".
Can anyone give me a headstart with the preamp and cabinet settings ? Using the presets in TLSE I am not getting the desired effect. Might be useful to know that I'm using a Jackson Randy Rhoads, through the TLSE and then to a Mackie SRM 450 monitor.
The results I'm getting sound good on PC and on hi-fi, but not in a live performance...

I'll be the 1st to help.
Take a detailed look at the patches called "solo"
"vulgar" and "thrash". Also search the patch list here with the user "timtone." He posted some great high gain/metal patches.
Just some advice from an owner of a Mackie 450 powered speaker.
Its really hard to program with the speaker because of the horn. I would program with headphones as well, then play it thru my mackie and it sounded way different.
Try programming with the Mackie and avoid programming with headphones.
Monte and Chico use a lot of high gain patches so look for their responses.

Fri, 2007/11/23 - 7:50pm — mself61well as chico says.. stank about 10 fee away from your rig and tweak till you get the tone('s) you want. unfortunately I do most of my tweaking at home where I play through my headphones (not good for your hearing) but when I do I listen to how the tone sounds for my favorite band through there and then try to "match" it, when I got to play live it's just not the same and I dont have that much time to tweak all the patches, especailly with all the different guitars I have been using. I do suggest to most though that each pick up is different and there for you may need a different set of patches for each guitar, you can save and load them for each guitar or split the patches up on the TL for each one.

One day we might get the luxury of tapping into other patches he might have made. It's the Mesa Boogie Rectifier.
