Switching from ToneLab SE to LE - not a stupid idea?

teel's picture

Hi there,
I found a buyer for my TLSE. Why? Because I'm not using two pedals, hardly use one of them, I don't need A/B switch and that's all. I used it only at home, I'm no a live performer. But since I loved ToneLab I thought of TLLE (about 100EUR of difference while selling mine and buying new unit). Arguments for: it is smaller, has only one pedal and I have 100EUR in my pocket wink

Do you think TLSE is better than TLLE? Do you think TLLE as a newer model has improved some cruicial things? TLLE has S/PDIF and has also some limitations - do you know them? Do you know if amp/cab modelling is better in TLLE?

As I'm looking at my TLSE I'm starting to doubt if offering it for sell was a good idea wink I hope TLLE will be as good as SE smile

Best regards,
teel

Depending on what style you

Depending on what style you play, if its on the Heavy Metal side you should try out the Zoom G9 (G7 for smaller) before you decide on the LE, I have the SE and the G9 and love both. check these links for more info.

No no, it definitely has to

No no, it definitely has to be ToneLab since I like classic sound, not metal one. The question is about differences betweend TLSE and TLLE.

Teel; I recently played

Teel;
I recently played along side a friend who owns a Tonelab LE. There are some improvements and a drop in price. But I use both expression pedals and I like the layout of the Tonelab SE.
I decided against upgrading to the Tonelab LE.
Plus I play out every weekend and I like the way
the Tonelab SE handles live gigs. I've gotten used to it.
If you don't lose too much money by selling the SE and buying the LE, go for it.
For me, there's not a major difference. Compare the POD XLT to the Pod X3, now there's a marked difference.

The last comment: "...The SE version before this was incapable of this kind of clean ... the LE is a totally different approach."

The guy playing the video says:

"The LE does have a few less functions (only one expression pedal and no A / B switch) but for my tastes the functions they eliminated were useless and actually annoying.

The LE does have a higher resolution (24 bit vs 20 for the SE) and some new sounds.

I have owned both. The LE sounds better, plain and simple. The SE is STILL better than most modelers but I definitely prefer the LE."

These videos convinced me to get the LE. Looking forward to picking it up any day now from the music store.
