I am thinking about swapping out the 12AX7 tube in my Tonelab LE for a 12AU7. Would that make a noticeable difference in the tone, to give me a smoother tone on the cleans and the distortions? Some people say it makes a difference, while others say it is barely noticable.
And what exactly does the Tube Trim function do? I went through that on the LE and I could not really tell much difference in the tone.

There are extensive threads

it may, I'd do a recording
Fri, 2007/10/26 - 6:40pm — mself61it may, I'd do a recording "before and after"
your LE may have been set up properly or very near properly to where you may not hear a difference after the tube trim, just make sure you do it after installing another tube if you do. is it not harder to get to the tube than the SE?.

R U still with the 12au7.
(I bought a whole bunch of tubes to try some months back but that was before I started tweaking for my new Strat, so I still haven't got around to trying 'em yet.)
