Tonelab SE - Bypassing Amp Sim

riffboy76's picture

Hey guys,

Just had a question regarding bypassing the amp sims on the TLSE. Lately i've been running the TLSE through the front of a tube amp. I've been getting alot of noise using the amp sims so i've tried turning the amp and cab sims off and just using the effects. So far i've had some very nice results. Question is.... as i'm bypassing the the amp/cab sim by turning them off, am i not benefitting from the preamp tube in the TLSE? I know the VR gain is relative to the preamp tube, but when i bypass the Amp sims i'm not using any VR gain. Thanks.

Yes........... From what I

Yes...........
From what I understand you are bypassing the tube in your TLSE when you turn off the "amp" sims....not that there's anything wrong with that but you are bypassing one of the premier features of the TLSE...

Can you plug directly into

Can you plug directly into the power amp of the tube amp?
Does it have a "low" or padded input?
You can always try lowering the output of the SE, lower the initial gain, and boost the VR gain and see what happens...

I actually do that A LOT!

I actually do that A LOT! (Bypassing the amp and cab sims). I play a lot of stuff "clean," right through to my Fender amp. I've been very pleased with the results, and also with the control it gives me.
