It would be nice to have real-time chat available as a feature on the site for active online users. A preference could be set to enable this, with the default setting = off.

I don't think the feature would be useful without a little more regular participation.
Also, since this is, in effect, a help site, I would prefer that the majority of Q and A's be done in the forums for reference.
you do have a private messaging feature available though.
