Hi all - I finally got around to showing off my guitars.
First up something a bit weird but cool - a Vox Phantom. I don't know the date but the production run was from around 1965 to 1968. A great guitar to look at and it makes a perfectly acceptable rhythm guitar - just don't try and play something too fancy on it!
Second up - my favourite 6 string - custom shop Tele. It plays and sounds fantastic!
Finally my favourite guitar - a 1967 12 string 330 Rickenbacker. I bought this through the trading post in about 1984. Its lovely - totally original (though I have replaced the saddle with 12 slots instead of the normal 6 - its much better for keeping it in tune). Just plug her in and you instantly get the jingle jangle sound of the Byrds, Beatles, REM etc. But what a bugger to re-string. The "R" plate at the end of the guitar is surely designed by a sadist! You seriously have to spend an enure afternoon re-stringing this guitar. First the octives then the thicker strings.
I also have a 6 string 370 - a 1970 something run - but its out "on loan" to my young nephew so no pictures I'm afraid.

I have seen some nice Vox guitars over the years, but yet to play one.
Does it sound like a Strat?
But the "ricky' is one guitar I would like to add next...they are sweet sounding!

I've just noticed that the current issue of "Vintage Guitar" has an article on Vox and it includes some great pictures of various Vox guitars - including the 'guitar-organ" - something that you have to see to believe! In terms of famous Vox guitar players - probably the best know would be Brian Jones from the Rolling Stones - he used the Vox "teardrop" model - see http://www.johnmars.com/brian_with_vox1.jpg. My brother once owned a 12 string Vox teardrop which was an amazingly good guitar. He foolishly sold it - something that he now regrets.
Hotraman - its got a fairly clean sound but it doesn't sound as warm as a strat.
My Vox has been battered around a fair bit by previous owners. The original pick-ups were taken out and replaced by something else (changing the size of the pick-up cavities in the body of the guitar) and then at some later stage the original pick-ups were put back in again! In the process the pick-guard was taken off and lost - hence why I have some weird leather like vinyl substitute on my guitar. If I had the time and energy (or could pay someone to do it) - it would make a great restoration job!
A friend of mine has a Vox

At least you still have the
