Hey guys!
It's good to see you all here and posting, except my good friend Alan, of course! I know some of you have been concerned, and some have been praying for me, so here's an update.
Well, in a nut shell, life is much better than it was earlier this year. Some may remember I was laid off at my job of 13 years in January. On top of this, my 16 year-old son had picked up a drug problem in school. The way I found out was kind-of traumatic; having to rush him to the hospital because of an overdose. Certainly, things were not looking up. Let me just say that God has turned him around. I'm looking at him right now, sitting across the room, with his nose stuck in a Bible! It's been quite a process, but God has transformed this young pot-smoking school-ditching under achiever into an on-fire for God warrior in a few short months! What a sight to see! Needless, to say, he's got himself a testimony to share with others about what the power of God can do in a person's life, as do I. When January came, I had just found out about my son, and then the lay-off came. In addition to this, I found I had torn a ligament in half in my wrist, and would have to have reconstructive surgery. I fell into a deep depression, and that's when I quit posting here. Suddenly, with my foundation ripped from beneath me, I couldn't seem to bring myself to do such things. So, the good news is this; I'm also in a much different place now than I was then. One of the things I knew I had to do was to cut the cord, so to speak, with my job. For years, my biggest fear was losing it. I had so much anxiety about it, that I probably took years off of my life just worrying about it everyday, going to work with a knot in my stomach. I've learned that God indeed is my provider. He's proven that to me this year, and finally it's down in my heart now. I'm out of the car business, and going to school full time, and still, all the bills are paid!! Hallelujah! I've gotten a 100% scholarship, and the church where I work part-time gave me a raise to help me make it through. And, my wrist turned out great! Every time I go back to the DR, he's amazed at the result. Of course, he thinks he did it all
Anyways, sorry to ramble on, but I thought I would catch you guys up on some stuff.
Peace!
~Shawn
