Recording with drum loops

dcunniffny's picture

There seem to be a lot of folks on this site who do recording. I have done this in the past using Fruity Loops. (The free software with Guitar Tracks Pro) These usually end up sounding cheesy. Any suggestions on good loop software? Also, can the loop software add bass lines? If not I have to pound it out on the Yamaha keyboard. (More cheese)
I will be recording blues/jazz/funk style.
Later I'll post my first recording which I did through my Digitech RP-1.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave, I thought Fruit Loops

Dave,
I thought Fruit Loops was a good program.
I'm using Garageband at the moment.
But you may have to add your own bass guitar lines to be really happy!

You know, it's probably my

You know, it's probably my speakers that make it sound bad. The program is also glitchy, so I have trouble shutting it down. I'll have to mess around with it some more. I have trouble getting "groove" with fruity loops as well, and we all know "you can't hold no groove if you ain't got no pocket"
As far as the bass goes....I guess I'll just have to borrow one.

Any other programs????

If your PC can handle it you

If your PC can handle it you might want to try BDF FXpansion, need 1gb ram to run smooth and then I dont know if that will run under Sonar or whatever. I need to get anothe 512 to try it but from the sounds I could get with 512 it sounded nice. I bough the alisis control pad to play my Roland TD6 mod. but it also had BDF lite bundeled.

Well... Since i'm an old

Well... Since i'm an old user of FTII i use Skale tracker (www.skale.org) to build my tracks (easy editing for me) using good? samples and build my music that way.

In studio i use Cubase + my Firepod (http://www.presonus.com/fp10.html) Makes good recordings smile

Good luck with the recording!

Fruity Loops' stock sounds

Fruity Loops' stock sounds are pretty lame. The only thing good the stock sounds are for is some techno and hip hop. If you can get some real good REAL drum samples, it is a great program.

thats what the BFDlite

thats what the BFDlite FXpansion is, based an real samples of many kits.
