Patch - CKY '96 Quite Bitter Beings'

5thumbs's picture

I've had the CKY tune '96 Quite Bitter Beings' in my head lately, so I created this patch while noodling around with the riff.

If you're not familiar with the tune, this patch is based on the following:

Channel A:
- Recto
- US V30 4x12 cab

Channel B:
- US HiGain
- US V30 4x12 cab

Common:
- Octave Pedal, with Octave 1 and Octave 2 levels turned down low
- Stereo Chorus
- Plate 1 Reverb

Since the Octave pedal is pretty dirty itself, the amp models have lower gain levels to keep things from getting too muddy. I like the sound of Channel A better, but Channel B may be helpful if you're having trouble cutting through the mix.

As for uses other than 96QBB, this patch sounds pretty good with distorted power chords and with riffs. Might be good for a drop-tuned, evil-sounding version of 'Black Dog'. smile

Good luck!

Thanks, Monte. I've been

Thanks, Monte. I've been busy playing, working, playing with the kids, building electronic stuff...and sleeping in the spare moments left over.

I hadn't been experimenting with the TLSE in a while, but I figured I was due to tinker with it again.

(At least I finally got the song out of my head in the patch-building process. smile )

Well, I started with doing

Well, I started with doing some Monte Allums mods to distortion pedals. That, and shielding/rewiring guitars for folks at my church. (It's frightening how many single-coil teles (and clones) are wired with 500K pots. *shudder*)

Other than that, I'm working on a tremolo loosely-based on the Tremulus Lune (since the TLSE doesn't have square-wave tremolo) and a MOSFET booster. Future plans include my own TS-808 variant, a switchable vintage/modern-voiced distortion stomp and a hi-fi Ross Compressor clone (similar to the Keeley Compressor.)

So nothing groundbreaking, but still fun stuff. It's a cheap hobby that has the side-benefit of giving me cool guitar gadgets when I'm done.
