using LN2 for 3-Band EQ tone control

maarten's picture

confused Hi,

Just bought the Tonelab LE. Works very well and sounds very good. I am using LN2 in all programs to adjust overall tonal characteristics with the three-band EQ, but it does not seem to work. When I am in a certain program and use the value knobs, the amp button starts blinking and the knobs change the amps parameter values. They do not seem to control the EQ's parameters, trim, lo gain, mid freq, mid gain and hi gain. Actually there is no difference with using LN1. What do I do wrong, or is this a bug in the LE?

there are few TLLE owners on

there are few TLLE owners on this site being a brand new unit they are starting to migrate, If I were you, I would read the manual well and see if it is you or a bug. if someone may have an swer fine, but at this point it may be hard to get a true answer.
the TLSE hase had some troubles like you stated but it is usually operator error or the unit may need a RESET. we can use a few TL users whom know the unit to help other TL users so stick around and welcome.

Thanks for your quick

smile Thanks for your quick response. I read the manual already twice. The TLLE is very easy to operate and to program. The manual explains the purpose of LN2 very clearly (on p15, p21 and p25). I also tested if Key Locking the TLLE is required. But this disables all buttons, selectors and knobs. I hoped LN2 in combination with Key Locking would enable the intended three-band EQ.

I hope some TLLE users join the forum and help me out.

I was freakin out the other

I was freakin out the other day when the guys were jamming, after tuning my guitar and thinking I went back into "patch mode" I went to change patches and it only changed an effect, it took me a few seconds to realize that I hadn't put it in "patche mode" but rather "effects mode", sometimes when tweaking I hit a knob expecting change only to realize that knob has no funtion for the effect, amp or cab, it took me awile to get a feel for how VOX set up my TLSE and I finally figured it out although sometime we get brain farts and dont realize it right away.
I'm thinking you have put the TLLE into one of these modes maybe perposely or accidentally and not back into the mode you want to use. But of course I'm probably wrong and I'm missing something (like brains).

Just got the LE today. Did

Just got the LE today. Did you get this work? It works fine for me. Make sure you press the Amp/Line button before changing the parameter knobs.

There is also a small note

There is also a small note in the TLLE manual when you flip to pg 26 (you mentioned p15,21,25 only wink ):

The EQ is unavailable if an amp model you selected is turned off.

So first make sure that the button below the amp selection knob is LIT when the CAB button is dark (I believe... I use a TLSE and there is no CAB button there - just make sure that you actually use one of the amp models and did not "deactivate" the amp modeling section).

Thanks for the tip. It

Thanks for the tip. It works! The manual does not say you have to press the amp/line button to get control over the EQ parameters. I thought the amp/line button was only for selection of the output setting.

Great help.
