That made me laugh !! I play most weeks in a church band. Unfortunately there are a frightening number of church musicians who feel that prayer is a decent substitute for individual practice, group rehearsal and tuning one's instrument. I am not suggesting that "Knackers" is one of these, BTW !
In my experience, a lot of church music is usually incredibly poorly prepared. It's amazing that a lot of groups actually get to the end of a lot of songs.
I don't find that to be particularly honouring to God, or respectful of the folks in the congregation that come to worship with the music.
Knackers, hope the practice goes well !!

That song "From the Inside Out" has created quite a stir at our church. I'm working on learning it & I'll see if I have a patch that's close to what is used.
Alan speaks the truth: we need to be skillful as worship leaders. Intercessory prayer won't make you a better guitar player... but it may encourage you to make time for rehearsing. Just my .02cents
Hey Guys, It all went well,
Sat, 2007/05/19 - 7:55pm — NackersHey Guys,
It all went well, I could have just (and with plenty of nerves) pulled the song off but the worship leader came in and had decided to change that song to something else (see prayer does work
just not how you expect)woohoo! Anyway, I DO practice but my trouble was that I hadnt worked with the team on that song b4 and was given just a few days notice to learn it when I probably only had maybe an hour or two to practice the song, patches, etc (as well as the rest of the songs) due to my work commitments. Anyway I didnt have to play it, but all in all musical worship went quite well.
Hotraman maybe all of us who play in worship teams with TLSE should start a thread and post any patches that we think work particularly well with particular worship songs?

Oh and Alan I agree with you
Sat, 2007/05/19 - 8:06pm — NackersOh and Alan I agree with you about prayer not being a substitute for practice, there are definately many musos in church bands that think if they pray they will sound good (no amount of prayer could make our vocalists sing in tune for once
), But prayer CAN be used to help the people in the congregation be able to worship without being distracted/negatively influenced by our little imperfections or mood on the day etc. And prayer for myself can help with my nerves and do things like help my practice at home (or help with finding time for practice this week lol) - things like that.
