ACTB30 1

woofmanjeff's picture

AcTB30 1 Good glassy tones at medium guitar volume.
Has a bit of bite when you crank it up.

AcTB30 2 This the same as ACTB30 1, but with mondo gain.

BLACK 0 A basic black-face Fender, moderately clean sound.

BLACK 2 A beefy black-face Fender sound that I use a lot.
Great for either Strat or Les Paul rhythm tones and
moderate distortion solos.

UKBLUE 1 Fairly bright, clean blues sound derived from Tone Lab
'UK BLUES' patch.

UKBLUE 2 Same as UKBLUE 1, but with more grit.

My live setup consists of a Vox Tone Lab (of course) running in 'Line' mode
into a Crown D-60 power amplifier driving a Marshall 1982A speaker cabinet.
I have rewired the speaker cabinet for stereo and run stereo throughout the
signal chain. Most of my patches have fairly prominent reverb of some sort
as that is what I lusted for the most in my youth.

Woofman -
What git did you create these patches with? It would be nice to know since I use a number of different gits. Strat, Fat Strat, Tele, LP/DC, etc. As I have requested before, knowing which git was used will save everone a lot of time when trying out new patches. I store patches for each git separately. Makes life much easier! I will try these out tonight. Thanks!

Sorry about that... Right

Sorry about that...
Right now I am using a Squire Strat and a Les paul Gold Top w/P90 pickups. I use both with all patches. I also have a Carvin DC-35 but it sounds strange thru the Tonelab, as it has some wierd sibilance issues on the top end. It sounds like it might be A/D conversion distortion. Too bad as I really like the way my Carvin plays. But the other guitars work just fine.

what type of pickups are in your DC-35 ?, they might have really high output where you might just turn the volume down in it.

Hey, Woofman,
I used your patches last night and I really dig them. Unfortunately, it was late and I had to keep the volume very low, but I'll have a chance to crank them up today.
I'm a clean tone freak and have assembled quite a lot of varying clean based tones and I can safely say that yours were different from any of mine. I had to tweak a little as I'm using a Gretsch Duo Jet with Filter’Trons and a real AC30. Still, they sound great. Really nice work.
As a matter of fact, I've already used one of your patches as a starting point for two new ones:
For one I just added a little pedal overdrive to get a sweet break up at harder strumming and the other was the Bond tone... you know that super-cool, twangy but not too rockabilly sound of the guitar riff in the Bond theme. I just saw Casino Royale the other night (I love ya, Mr. Connery, but this was, by far, the best Bond flick I've ever seen) and listening to the theme over the credits I got the itch to try and replicate that tone. Nothing too tricky - just using the wah wah set at a certain point.

Please post any new patches when you cook them up. Again, really great work.

For those who've yet to download them, give 'em a try. Even if clean isn’t your thing, they make great starting points for other tones.

well then maybe its bass

well then maybe its bass ackwards from what I said, maybe try a booster and possibly an EQ if you havent already, I'm just curious about the DC-35, at one time I was considering building that exact axe.

I own a Carvin DC400 and I love it !!!
although I too had trouble with it and the tonelab..so I checked the
height on the pickups, and the height on the individual pickup poles..
I found a sweet spot, also I restringed with DRs..
but the maple top seems to "boost" the treble..
